MINISTRIES

Children

Children have a special place in the heart of God. The Bible has a clear message on how parents should bring them up. We believe it is the will of God for a godly generation to be brought up in our country, a generation that fears the Lord beginning at childhood. Our Sunday school's primary goal is helping parents to accomplish their duty of raising their children in the faith of Christ. Proceeding is some of the verses that motivate our team of 28 volunteers in the Children's Department to offer their care and talents to children during each Sunday service:

"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." (Proverbs 22:6)

"These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children…" (Deuteronomy 6:6,7a)

"So the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands." (Psalms 78:6, 7)

Our vision is to teach the children to have a sincere and enlightened faith in God, thankful for all the good things He has given, confident in saying No to sin and Yes to God's guidance, developing a Christ-like character and faithfulness to God and the church.

Age groups: Over 50 children aged from 18 months to 11 years visit our Sunday school. All teachers and assistants undergo different levels of training programs and are fully prepared to meet the age-specific spiritual, emotional and physical needs of each child.

From 18 months to 3 years: We introduce children with much love and patience to the wonderful world God has created for them. Our ministers bless them with prayer, songs and short stories, which assist in activating their speaking and other basic skills.

From 3 to 6 years: The lesson contains a teaching on basic truths from the Word of God in addition to Bible stories, heroes and events. It is tied to practical application in the lives of children. There are additional activities such as dramas, puppet shows, discussions and stories of contemporary children characters, as well as diverse games that correspond to their visual, active and figurative thinking.

From 6 to 8 years and from 9 to 12: The children come to the Sunday service before their lesson together to praise and worship the Lord with their parents. Then their lesson concentrates on Bible teaching that encourages personal conclusions concerning the personality of God and the children' s relationship with Him. The teachers place an emphasis upon memorizing verses from the Bible, analyzing their meaning and implementation in their lives. The children pray for personal and general needs, gather their offering and share testimonies of what has happened to them during the week.

Working with children outside the GOOD NEWS Christian Church: Sunday school teachers has visited the villages of Gabar, Debelt and Zidarovo, where they have ministered to several groups consisting each of 20 children. Now they serve in Dolno Ezerovo. The children usually belong to poor or minority group families. The teachers' vision is to combine the Sunday school lesson with teaching the children to read and write, helping them with food, clothes, etc.

Teenagers

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word." (Psalms 119:9)
The vision of the Teenage Ministry is to help the young people to discern between good and evil, attain an understanding of the right relationships with other teens and to achieve the best life that God has provided for them. Interactive discussions of the Word of God are accompanied with live Christian music. Teenagers come to know each other well at camps and picnics. More information: Nellie Toncheva

Praise and Worship

Psalms 150: "Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord."
25 singers and musicians are privileged to minister at each service to God with their gifts. Their vision is to proclaim what God has done and to encourage Christians in their daily walk of faith.

Ministering to the Hearing-Impaired

"For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" (Romans 10:13, 14)

The Lord shows His love to those who are unable to hear by providing an avenue to receive the Good News. Sign language is used to translate the message of God's love at each church service. A special edition of the Gospel of John is offered for the hearing-impaired.

Home groups

Home groups augment our main congregational church meetings. These are regularly scheduled small group meetings typically held in someone's home. Larger settings often preclude a person from receiving prayer for specific needs or having the opportunity to inquire regarding an unresolved question. This is the purpose of home groups - one can get personal attention, make friends with other Christians and discuss topics of interest.

Ministering in Hospitals

Jesus Christ said, "I was sick and you looked after me." (Matthew 25:36) Old Testament following is found: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6)

"A heart for the sick and dying" - this statement captures the vision of Christians from our church who minister in hospitals. Their service would cause many to ask what has motivated them to so willingly encounter human suffering. Many of the sick that are visited every Saturday in the hospitals or at their homes are at death' s door. But those that know what Jesus Christ has done for them at the cross are able to bring a living message of hope and peace generated by the promise of healing and deliverance! The emphasis is to lovingly serve the wishes of the afflicted person, blessing them with prayers, sharing encouraging testimonies, also providing free handouts and the New Testaments.
